The Master's degree programme in European studies is for anyone with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science or humanistic subject who would like to add a European dimension to their education. The purpose of the degree programme is to give you general knowledge of European conditions, political as well as historical and cultural, to build on the insight you gained in your BA studies.
With a Master’s degree in European studies, you are qualified to analyse, understand and work with both European diversity and everything that brings Europeans together. European studies is an interdisciplinary and multicultural degree programme and therefore prepares you to work in international organisations, large corporations and in public administration.
Europe is becoming more and more important for the individual. Europeans are becoming more closely connected, and the EU is becoming an integrated part of both national and international politics. In European studies, you learn to analyse the many problems and possibilities inherent in the European collaboration and Europe in general. You deal not only with EU institutions but also with analyses of cultural, social and political processes in Europe, and the question of what Europe really is.
The degree programme is aimed at students with a solid academic background who would like to add a European perspective to their education. You acquire knowledge of European affairs to supplement your Bachelor's degree. The European dimension is useful, whether you wish to work with political institutions, international organisations, the business community, the media, teaching or cultural understanding. In addition, European studies is an international Master’s degree programme where your fellow students come from all over the world. All instruction therefore takes place in English and you speak a lot of English both during classes and after hours.
Upon completion of the degree, you will receive the title Master of Arts in European Studies. If you are interested in learning more about the degree programme, please take a look here. The degree programme is offered by the Department of Culture and Society

As a student of European studies, you have a unique opportunity to meet students from other countries – both within and outside Europe. The breadth of perspective and the unique form interdisciplinary rigour of European Studies attracts Danish as well as foreign students. Roughly half of our students come from other European countries or from countries in other parts of the world, contributing to a thriving, cosmopolitan atmosphere. European studies has a Friday bar that it shares with students from the international Master’s degree programme in international studies and International Global History. The bar provides an opportunity for socialising across disciplines and academic fields and is a popular venue for international as well as Danish students to meet once the scheduled weekly lectures are over.
In addition, the students of European studies often organise study tours – including tours to Brussels, where you visit EU institutions and private sector companies, meet politicians and business people and generally relax with your fellow students.
Furthermore a student conference is held every year at European Studies:
