To act and contribute as a manager and employee in tomorrow's the emerging business community skills related to strategic, organizational and leadership processes are necessary. These processes are in focus in this programme that gives students relevant knowledge, insight, and behavioral skills. Real life processes are often international in scope which is reflected in the content of the different courses in the programmme.
We offer a theme-based, practice and process-oriented and progressively structured study programme supported by modern and technologically updated teaching methods. The study programme is characterised by a high level of student involvement and responsibility for your own learning.
De erhvervsøkonomiske bacheloruddannelser HA og B.Sc. in Business Administration herunder alle toninger fra Aarhus BSS ved Aarhus Universitet giver adgang til cand.merc. og cand.merc.aud. Bemærk at der er særlige krav til valgfagssammensætningen ved HA (jur.).
Har du en bacheloruddannelse i erhvervsøkonomi, HA (Generel erhvervsøkonomi) fra en dansk uddannelsesinstitution opfylder du automatisk de specifikke adgangskrav, og kan optages direkte, hvis der ikke er adgangsbegrænsning på specialiseringen. Er du i tvivl, om du opfylder de specifikke adgangskrav, kan du spørge Studievejledningen om reglerne.
Du vil også med en HD (erhvervsøkonomisk diplomuddannelse) kunne optages på en erhvervsøkonomisk kandidatuddannelse, dog med krav om supplerende fag svarende til 20 ECTS. Du kan i oversigten over suppleringsfag se hvilke fag du skal supplere med, hvis du ønsker at starte på kandidatuddannelsen. Fra optagelsen i 2018 og fremad skal suppleringsfagene være bestået inden studiestart på kandidatuddannelsen.
Hvis du har en uddannelse med tilsvarende fagligt indhold, kan du få den vurderet ved Optagelse til kandidat og tilvalg. Vurderinger laves mellem 1. september og 1. december. I vurderingen vil der blive lagt vægt på, at din bacheloruddannelse har et tilstrækkeligt indhold af erhvervsøkonomiske fag, således at følgende fagområder er dækket i det angivne ECTS-omfang, se nedenfor.

Four prerequisite courses cover fields of study which provide you with the basic skills required to study subsequent courses:
Organisational Theory: Structure and Behaviour shows how various theories and models within the fields of organisational sociology and personality psychology may individually and in combination provide an expedient approach to creating an understanding of organisations as both structure and behaviour.
Emerging markets, their institutions and challenges. The course aims at providing an analytical framework for understanding emerging markets and their institutions. The importance and growth potentials of emerging markets, such as for example the Chinese, mean that they cannot be ignored, but their particularities at the same time pose serious liabilities of foreignness for Western firms. Overcoming these liabilities must start with an understanding of the institutional differences between the emerging markets and the economies of the West.
Management Research Method focuses on the production of qualified and justified knowledge which lives up to scientific quality criteria. This is a sine qua non issue for any candidate in business economics, who wishes to make decisions on an informed background. The course introduces a variety of research designs applicable when carrying out research in the area of organisation and management and related areas. Focus will first be on the philosophical issues pertaining to the creation of valid knowledge. In the second part focus will be on techniques for data collection and analysis. These techniques include qualitative as well as quantitative approaches.
Organizational Change and Leadership approaches organizational change and leadership from a broad perspective and traditional planned change models and leadership theories are supplemented with recent contributions. It is a central point of departure that organizational change and development comprises a range of behavioral science tools that may affect the way people behave in organizations and appropriate "change packages" should be based on the specific situation in a given organization. Similarly, the aim of the leadership part of the course is to deepen the students’ insights into a broad range of evidence based theories of leadership and the possible implications for leadership work and leadership development in practice. The course will include a clarification of perspectives on leadership, especially on the relationship between the concepts of management and leadership and the central topics are the discussions of task-oriented and people-oriented leadership behavior in various contexts and at various levels. The topics also include several other specific topics related to for instance team leadership, shared leadership, and virtual leadership.
Strategy and Business Development seeks to train your ability to apply central strategic tools for diagnostic purposes and subsequent business development in connection with the resolution of managerial aspects of development issues at a strategic level.
Entrepreneurship enables you to understand the factors affecting the formation and growth of new enterprises. You must be able to analyse alternative organisational options and managerial challenges.
Human Resource Management and Development will give you a fundamental theoretical and practical insight into and understanding of the Human Resource Management (HRM) field – the dynamic interplay of person, job, and organisation. The course aims to train your ability to identify and understand different HRM issues and dilemmas within the field, and also in different forms of organisations. The course will also deal with International HRM.
In the third semester you can choose elective courses within your areas of interest. The courses can either be taken at Aarhus BSS during the semester, at the AU Summer University or at one of our more than 300 partner universities abroad. You can also participate in internship programmes either in Denmark or abroad.
The fourth semester is devoted to the final thesis. You may choose the topic of the thesis freely and so get a chance to concentrate on and specialise in a specific field of interest. The thesis may be written in collaboration with another student or it may be the result of your individual effort. When the thesis has been submitted, it is defended before the academic advisor as well as an external examiner.
Som studerende på en universitetsuddannelse skal du regne med at undervisningsformerne er noget anderledes, end hvad du kender fra gymnasiet eller handelsskolen. Som studerende er du i langt højere grad end tidligere ansvarlig for din egen indlæring og uddannelse.
Undervisningsåret er delt ind i to semestre. Der er rusintroduktion i uge 35. Første semester starter i uge 36 (ca. 1. september) til ca. midt december med eksamensperiode fra ca. midt december til 31. januar. Anden semester løber fra ca. 1. februar til midt i maj, hvor der eksamensperiode indtil 30. juni.

Vores undervisning og undervisningsformer gør vores studerende og vores dimittender attraktive for erhvervslivet.
Ved at løse opgaver i grupper, som typisk består af tre til fire studerende, lærer du at arbejde sammen med dine medstuderende omkring en given opgave.
Læsegrupper har også en funktion uden for eksamensperioderne. Her har du mulighed for sammen med gruppen at diskutere faglige problemer og gennemgå materialet til næste undervisningsgang.
Læsegrupper får på den måde både en social og en faglig funktion.
Til forelæsninger i et auditorium kan der være plads til op mod 300 studerende. Den anden halvdel foregår som holdtimer eller øvelsestimer, ligesom du kender det fra gymnasiet eller handelsskolen. Her er der mulighed for at stille spørgsmål, gennemgå øvelser og diskutere stoffet.

This programme primarily provides you with the competences needed to take up so-called development positions. These are functions which typically require the ability to integrate technological, financial, organisational and human development processes.
Thus, the MSc in Strategy, Organisation and Leadership is aimed to qualify you to a wide variety of functions in private firms as well as in NGOs and public organisations.
In recent years, graduates specialising in Strategy, Organisation and Leadership have widely been employed as junior consultants in large international management consultancy firms, as system consultants in the IT sector, as development consultants and trainees in large corporations or as management assistants. Some have also chosen to pursue their studies as PhD scholars.
The MSc in Strategy, Organisation and Leadership programme first and foremost provides you with a number of fundamental theoretical and analytical qualifications. The set of competences derives from a teaching philosophy, which emphasises theoretical and methodological training in combination with the case method. This teaching philosophy has a derived effect in leading to a number of communication competences as students during all four semesters regularly is going to present and discuss the results of their efforts in reports as well as oral presentations. Furthermore, since the programme includes group work as well as individual work the student will obtain collaboration and self-management competences. Finally, since the teaching takes place in an international environment with students from several countries the student will obtain a number of cultural competences.
